Description
Metal silicon, also known as industrial silicon, is elemental silicon obtained by reduction smelting of quartz sand and carbonaceous reducing agents in a high-temperature submerged arc furnace. Its main component is Si, and it often contains impurities such as iron, aluminum, and calcium. Based on impurity content, it is classified into grades such as 553, 441, and 3303, and is a fundamental raw material in the silicon-based industry chain.
After melting, metal silicon can fully alloy with molten aluminum, improving the hardness, wear resistance, and casting fluidity of aluminum alloys. Simultaneously, as a core raw material for preparing aluminum-titanium-boron grain refiners, it participates in the formation of the TiAl₃ grain refiner phase, assisting in the refinement of aluminum grains and improving the quality of cast billets.
